Open Position - Service Technician

Job Description

The Service Tech is responsible for supervising and managing specific jobs or projects and personnel at different site locations for customers. This role ensures the quality of projects and that they are completed within or below budgeted amounts. The Service Tech oversees all workers at job sites, including apprentice service techs and subcontractors, and assigns job duties as appropriate. The Service Tech has the discretion to stop work due to unsafe conditions and work through an unpaid lunch to ensure job completion.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Reports to and is fully accountable to the Service Manager.
  • Manage jobs or projects at various site locations.
  • Ensure project quality and completion within budget.
  • Oversee workers at job sites, including apprentice service techs and subcontractors.
  • Assign job duties to crew members as deemed appropriate.
  • Stop work due to unsafe conditions and decide to work through unpaid lunch breaks if necessary.
  • Follow schedules established by the Service Assistant, Service Manager, and customers.
  • Coordinate materials, labor, and hours to complete jobs on time and within budget.
  • Produce quality work with no safety violations or accidents.
  • Communicate verbally and in written English with customers and employees, and read reports and instructions.
  • Maintain a clean and well-groomed appearance.
  • Adhere to company policies, including drug, safety, and harassment policies.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Supervises apprentice service techs and other subcontractors assigned to the jobs.
  • High School Diploma or GED, with formal training in the plumbing trade.
  • Preferably three (3) years of experience as a service tech.
  • Possess necessary tools for the tasks and duties of a Journeyman.
  • General knowledge and skills in the plumbing/service industry.
  • Physically capable of performing strenuous manual labor for extended periods.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in verbal and written English.
  • Must maintain a clean driving record with no points.
  • Maintain proper etiquette while in a customer’s home or place of business.
  • Strenuous physical activity, including walking, carrying, turning, reaching, grasping, bending, and flexing.
  • Required to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Load and unload materials weighing up to 100 pounds.
  • Full power of speech, sight, and hearing necessary.
  • Ability to move about the site location, which may be littered with construction materials.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality regarding all personnel issues, customer relations, financial information, and business practices and strategies.
  • Above-average mathematical and communication skills.
  • Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Computer Ease.
  • Maintain professional and positive relationships with customers and employees.
  • Well-organized and a logical thinker, able to focus on tasks and deadlines attentively.
  • Adept at task prioritization and able to function well under pressure.
  • Capable of supervising and evaluating the performance of assistants.
  • Loyal to the company’s goals, vision, and financial well-being.
  • Enthusiastic team member willing to contribute to achieving team goals.
  • Capable of lifting up to 40 pounds.
